Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to get an electrician to install the kit?
No, we have designed the kit so that anyone can unpack and install the kit, using the instructions provided. Remember too that there is phone and e-mail support.

Can we leave the cameras out all year round?

Yes, the cameras and illuminators in the miniature range are all sealed units and the nest box cameras are protected from the elements by the nest box. It is important to keep the cameras powered whilst outside to keep atmospheric moisture away.

We have large grounds; can we buy extra cable?
Yes, up to 100m of four-core cable can be used with the school camera kits. Call us to find out how you can send images over even greater distances using wireless and other cable options.

Our wildlife area can’t be reached using cables.
Eco-watch wireless kits work up to 100m so playgrounds, roads and other obstacles are not a problem. The kit consists of a transmitter at the camera site, which can be mains or battery powered and a receiver inside the school, normally positioned on a widow sill in a line of sight with the camera.

How do we view the camera images and do we need extra equipment to watch live in school?
All our kits can be plugged in to TVs, videos and any other audio visual equipment with SCART or phono (RCA) connections. You may want to display the images on many screens, in which case you may need a small distributor.

Can we record images as well?
Yes, plug the output from the camera into your video, DVD recorder or camcorder. If you are using a PC you can capture images and movie clips using eco-watch WildLIVE software. This means you can create an archive for year round interest and as a year-to-year database.

What about our wildlife?
The nightvision camera and the infrared illuminators emit light at a wavelength at which most birds and animals cannot detect. Nest box cameras should be installed prior to the nesting season, as it is illegal to disturb occupied boxes. However the installation of bird boxes at anytime during the year will provide refuge and roosting sites as well as nesting spaces for many birds and their fledglings.

Is there a guarantee?
Yes, there is a 1-year guarantee for all parts and after sales support and wildlife advice from eco-watch.
